Paid parking
Paid parking without ticket machines: pay by plate*
Ticket machines are expensive to install and maintain, and paper tickets force drivers back to their vehicle. With QR Blue*, drivers scan the QR code on the sign, choose a duration or a pass and pay online; no ticket needs to be displayed, and officers check by number plate.
What municipalities face
Ticket machines that are costly to maintain
Purchase, maintenance, cash collection, vandalism: each machine weighs on the council's budget.
A paper ticket to take back to the vehicle
Drivers must find the machine, pay, then walk back to put the ticket behind the windscreen.
Extensions impossible from a distance
To stay longer, drivers have to go back to the machine, often too late.
Residents paying by mistake
Without a link between permits and payment, an exempt resident may pay by mistake or run into trouble at a check.
What QR Blue brings
- A tariff grid per zone: hourly steps, day, week or month passes, entry pass
- An optional free first period, declared like the others, once a day
- Online payment via PayFiP (French public treasury) or another provider, PDF invoice by e-mail
- Extensions from the same page, paying only the difference
- Residents and other permit holders exempted by their badge, without paying
- Checks by number plate, in the same app as the badges
* Paid use available early 2027; free use (short stays, short-term parking) is available now.
Features used
Frequently asked questions
When will paid parking be available?
Early 2027. Free use of the same module (short stays, short-term parking, drop-off zones) is available now.
Do the ticket machines have to stay?
No, if your by-law provides for online payment: a QR code on each sign in the zone is enough. Both can also coexist during a transition period.
Do drivers pay extra fees?
QR Blue adds no fee for drivers: they pay the tariff set by the authority, collected by its payment provider.
How are checks carried out?
Officers enter or read the plate with the enforcement app: they see whether a paid parking session is ongoing, until what time, or whether the vehicle holds a badge valid on the zone.
Can a free first period be offered?
Yes, for example the first 30 minutes. Drivers declare it by scanning the QR code, without paying, once a day: checks see it like any other parking session.
