# How long does it take to deploy QR Blue in your town?

It is the question local authorities ask us most often: **how long does it take to set up QR Blue?** The short answer: **usually between one and two months**. And once we have received everything we need, **it takes us fifteen days** to open the service.

## Why most of the time is on the local authority's side

The technical part is the quickest. What takes time are decisions and internal discussions: finalising the by-law that governs the zones, gathering the file of current permits, getting materials approved by the communications team, bringing the right people together. Several departments are often involved: municipal police, reception, communications, IT, and finance if some permits are paid.
These timescales differ from one town to another. Our role is to make them visible and leave nothing pending.

## A shared roadmap

Each deployment is tracked in a sheet shared with the local authority. Each action has an owner and a status. It is organised in six phases:

- **Scoping and steering**: appointing a project lead, choosing the name of the service shown to residents (for example “QR Car” or “My Blue Zone”), target launch date, finalised municipal by-law.
- **Visual identity and communication**: official logo and colours, contact in the communications department.
- **Business settings**: zones, rules per zone and permit types according to the by-law; form fields and supporting documents required for each type; sender of the e-mails sent to residents; personal data notices; services opened in the portal; badge template; short-stay and payment if applicable.
- **Technical settings**: file of current permits for data recovery, custom domain, sending address in the town's name if it wishes, integration of the portal on the parking page of the website.
- **Users and access**: list of staff and their role (administrator, manager, reception, enforcement), account creation.
- **Training and launch**: staff training, acceptance testing before opening, ordering windscreen holders if needed, go-live and informing residents.

## What helps go faster

- **Appoint a project lead from the start.** A single point of contact keeps discussions between departments moving.
- **Send the file of current permits early**, even if imperfect: we format, clean and deduplicate it.
- **Involve communications from the outset**: the service name, logo and information for residents are prepared alongside the configuration.
- **Use the QR Blue sending address to start with.** It works immediately; an address in the authority's name requires extra technical setup, which can come later.

## And after the fifteen days?

Once the service is open, residents apply online, your staff process the applications and carry out checks on the street, and we stay by your side for follow-up. Want to know where your town would stand? [Request a demo](https://qrblue.fr/en/contact): we will go through the roadmap with you.
